1. Information We Collect
When you create or use an account, we may collect the following information. Account information includes your name, email address, phone number, and password. Verification information includes a selfie, a government-issued ID, and a photo of your vehicle registration if you choose to verify your identity or a vehicle. This information is used to confirm your identity and verify vehicle ownership, and may be reviewed by authorized personnel to ensure submitted documents are consistent. Verification data is stored securely and is not displayed or shared publicly. For business accounts, we collect business details and contact information for the authorized representative. We may also collect technical information such as device type, operating system, IP address, and general usage activity.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to create and maintain accounts, verify identity and confirm vehicle ownership, enable communication between drivers and businesses, detect and prevent fraud, misuse, or unsafe behavior, improve the App and develop new features, communicate with you about account activity, updates, and promotions, and comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with other users only as required to enable core features such as messaging or license plate profiles. We may also share information with service providers that support our operations, including hosting, analytics, and communications, when required by law or legal process, to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the public, or PL8CHAT, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or sale.
4. Reporter Privacy
PL8CHAT handles reporter identity differently depending on how a report is submitted. When a report is submitted through the website, no personal information is collected or shared unless the reporter voluntarily provides an email address. If provided, that email may be shared with the vehicle owner or business so they can follow up. When a report is submitted through the mobile app, the report is tied to the user’s account. The receiving party sees only the reporter’s display name and associated license plate. Email, phone number, and other personal information are not shared. PL8CHAT is not responsible for how recipients use information once it has been shared. Users can control how they are contacted through the App, including the ability to disable direct messaging and receive alerts only.
5. Sensitive Information and Security
We treat driver’s license images, selfies, and vehicle registration documents as sensitive information. These are stored securely and accessible only as needed to support verification, security, and platform integrity. We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect against unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. While no system is completely secure, we take appropriate steps to protect your information.
6. Business Accounts
Businesses registering on PL8CHAT must provide accurate company information and ensure the person creating the account is authorized. Business identity information may be visible within the App so users can identify and contact the business.
7. Your Choices and Rights
You may access and update your account information at any time. You may opt out of promotional communications by following the instructions in those messages. Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws, including the right to request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information.
